Since the version 2.0 we have added the optimization for the energy consumption, the app shouldn't drain the battery so fast. Koi Pond developers, please find a way to make this app more energy efficient. Nice graphical artistry, but extremely high energy consumption. I’m not sure why this consumes so much energy while supposedly idle, but it is enough of a deterrent from running the application that I keep the app closed, which now defeats the purpose of paying $2-4 in the first place to acquire it. And this is without Koi Pond actively displaying the screensaver, but rather running in the background. I decided to check Activity Monitor and the Energy Impact for Koi Pond was a staggering 257 units (vs 2.6 units for Messages and 2.8 units for Mail). However I rated this as 2-star because within the first day of the application running, I noticed my Macbook Pro battery life was drained within 2-3 hours (whereas it normally lasts 8-9 hours), and the fan is constantly ramped to cool the system. I was enticed by the graphics and am very impressed and pleased with the quality of the screensaver. Regards, 3PlanesoftĮxcellent Graphics, but HUGE Energy Consumer Hello! Thank you for so many notes and suggestions! We are constantly improving our app to make it better. Great work, I don’t even mind paying the dollar for each expansion - but it would be nice if that dollar included both the fish AND another pond! I love this desktop - I’ve tried many different active-background applications in the past but this one runs so smooth and is incredibly realistic! The only thing I would like to see are more sound ambiance options, and more consistently updated fish/pond content. ![]() :) Thanks for a great background app! I highly recommend this as well as the mechanical clock. A south pacific theme with white sands and sand-dollars, sea stars and maybe some hidden gold coins peeking through from under the sand (like Spanish gold Reales) A glass stone theme similar to the scenes you see at Glass Beach in Fort Bragg, CA An update to the twighlight theme maybe with some glass orbs at the bottom reflecting a starry sky… things like a sextant and rope pulley at the bottom Tropical themed with palm branches and things like coconut halves and crabs sitting at the bottom. Here are some pond ideas I would love to see: Please update sometime soon with new ponds and fish! Maybe multiple fish types would be cool… ![]() When I’m writing or doing design work, this still creates a fantastic ambiance and atmosphere.
